Daniel Luis Espinal, tenor, made his Opera Theatre debut singing Frederic in 2026’s The Pirates of Penzance. He was the Grand Finals Winner of the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, received a 2025 Sara Tucker Study Grant, and was in residence at the 2025 Aix-en-Provence Festival Académie and Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute. Daniel is currently a third-year member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center artist training program. He sings the roles of Auctioneer and Taylor in Omar, Officer in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Giuseppe in La traviata in the Lyric’s 2026/27 Season.

Jonathan Heaney, piano, is an accomplished classical musician and vocal coach. He has performed and taught in Italy, worked for The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, and co-founded two opera companies. Jonathan made his OTSL Festival Season debut in 2025 serving as repetiteur on Die Fledermaus and returned as a member of the music staff for the 2026 Festival Season. Most recently, Jonathan served as Associate Music Director for Joshua’s Boots, Opera Theatre’s opera for young people co-produced with COCA.
