Featured Artists

Benjamin Ruiz, tenor, is an alumnus of Texas State University and Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Benjamin made his OTSL debut in 2024 as a Gerdine Young Artist singing in La bohéme. In the 2023-2024 season, he joined Lyric Opera of Kansas City as their tenor in the Resident Artist Program. While at Lyric Opera of Kansas City, he performed as Beppe in Pagliacci; and additionally, performed several principal roles such as Ollie in Sketchbook for Ollie and Tybalt in Romeo et Juliette.

Laura Elena Fernández, soprano, is an alumnus of Stetson University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A 2025 Gerdine Young Artist, she performed in the ensemble of Die Fledermaus and covered the title role of Lucy in the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s This House. Among her recent roles are La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro (Miami Beach Classical Music Festival), Magda Sorel in The Consul (San Francisco Conservatory of Music), Micaëla in Carmen (Miami Beach Classical Music Festival), and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica (New York Lyric Opera Theatre).
