The costumes were designed by Debra Hanson for the 1989 Opera Banff Festival production, directed by Colin Graham and conducted by Stephen Lord.

The Rape of Lucretia was first performed at Glyndebourne Opera House, 12 July 1946.

ACT ONE

PROLOGUE

Scene 1: The Roman camp, not far from Rome

Interlude: Tarquinius’s ride to Rome

Scene 2:  Lucretia’s house in Rome, the same night

 

ACT TWO

Prelude: The Choruses

Scene 1: Lucretia’s bedroom

Interlude: The Rape

Scene 2: The terrace of Lucretia’s house, the next morning.
