Register to audition for the Bayer Fund Artists-in-Training Program!

The Bayer Fund Artists-in-Training Program (AIT) is a nationally acclaimed program that identifies, coaches, and encourages promising young high school singers both on and offstage. In addition to developing the young artist through rigorous vocal training, AIT sets every participant up for success in any field by championing the values of goal setting, hard work, perseverance, and camaraderie. Every year, approximately 20 students are selected through an open audition process. Over the last 30+ years, AIT alumni have gone on to careers as professional performers, engineers, lawyers, politicians, teachers, and more!

  • Develop your voice with weekly, private voice lessons from October through April. Lessons are 45 minutes and take place after school at one of four locations: SIU – Edwardsville, Washington University, Webster University, or the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
  • Learn from internationally recognized artists in master classes and residencies throughout the year.  Visiting artists have included Harolyn Blackwell, Kevin Short, Justin Austin, Morris Robinson, Christine Brewer, Denyce Graves, and many more!
  • Attend performances by Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, The Black Rep, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Jazz St. Louis, and others!
  • Perform in two public recitals, including a public Spring Recital at the Sheldon Concert Hall, where more than $14,000 in collegiate and vocal scholarships is awarded.

Tuition is $850. This includes costs for private lessons, master classes, and all extracurricular activities. Payment plans are available, and financial aid is offered to those who qualify. Transportation is available to those who qualify for assistance.
