OTSL unveils 2024 Festival Season casting updates

As the 2024 Festival Season draws closer, we are pleased to unveil recent additions to our casting! We’re excited for our patrons to get to know these artists and cheer them on this coming spring.

The Barber of Seville

Tenor Andrew Morstein will be making his OTSL debut as the wealthy and romantic Count Almaviva.

Three of our Gerdine Young Artists (GYAs) will round out the cast: Chase Sanders (Berta/Notary), David Wolfe (Fiorello), and Antonio Azpiri (Officer).

La bohème

Due to scheduling conflicts, Joshua Blue sadly has withdrawn from the role of Rodolfo, but we are thrilled that accomplished tenor (and former GYA) Moisés Salazar will be making his OTSL debut in this role, instead! You may remember Moisés from our 2020 Opera Tastings; currently, he is an Adler Fellow at the San Francisco Opera.

Joining us for the roles of Benoit/Alcindordo is Robert Mellon, who was last seen on OTSL’s stage in our 2017 American premiere of Philip Glass’ The Trial.

We’re also excited to have several GYAs making company debuts in this production: Levi Adkins (Parpignol), Jared Werlein (Custom House Officer), Justin Ramm-Damron (Sergeant), and Benjamin Ruiz (Prune Man).

Making his OTSL debut as the scheming Achilla is bass-baritone Cory McGee.

Joining us as Younger Galileo is Sean Michael Plumb, who sang in our 2016 production of La bohème. Hunter Enoch, the wonderfully wicked Scarpia from 2023’s Tosca, will sing the roles of Pope Urban VIII/Simplico/Cardinal/Barberini/Father.

This production wouldn’t be possible without a stellar ensemble cast, which includes current and former Richard Gaddes Festival Artists (GFA) and GYAs: Robert Mellon, former GYA and GFA (Cardinal 2); Kathleen O’Mara, GFA (Duchess Christina); Elijah English, GYA (Cardinal 1); Michelle Mariposa, GYA (Maria Maddalena); Antonio Azpiri, GYA (Cardinal 3); Jennifer Kreider, GYA (Sagredo); Lucy Evans, GYA (Marie de’Medici ); Luke Elmer (Other 1); David Wolfe and Emolio Vasquez, GYAs (Other 2); Brad Bickhardt, GYA (Priest); Gabriela Linares, GYA (Scribe); and an ensemble chorus formed by GYAs Georgia Belmont, Jouelle Roberson, Chea Kang, Madeleine Lyon, SeongBeom Choi, and Justin Ramm-Damron.
