AUDITION NOTICE FOR ACTORS/PERFORMERS

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis will hold auditions for the role of “Puck” (actor) in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Â
Position & Character Description
Character description: Impish, any gender, shapeshifter, swift on their feet, sometimes vulnerable, sometimes aggressive, can turn on a dime from one state to another.
Character age: Teenager; Youthful presentation
Live Audition
If selected for a live audition, candidates will be asked to read lines and speak in rhythm from specific excerpts of the opera which will be provided and accompanied by a pianist. If selected for a live audition, more information will be provided along with the required audition excerpts. Live auditions will take place at 210 Hazel Ave., St. Louis, MO, 63119. Preference for this casting will be given to actors who are based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dates of Engagement
- Rehearsal Period: Sunday, May 11, 2024 – Friday, June 13, 2025Â
- Performances (6 total): June 14, 18, 20, 22, 26 (7:30 pm); June 28 (12:30 pm), 2025Â
Compensation
- Gross Compensation: $1,459.08/week (7-week engagement) Â
- This is an AGMA role. AGMA membership is required, and OTSL will handle any initiation fees and deductions while you’re in residency with us.Â

- If granted an audition, you will be asked to prepare two selections from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten). Those will be provided to those who are granted an audition.Â
