Angel Azzarra & Angel Romero
Angel Azzarra, Soprano
Soprano Angel Azzarra was recently recognized by Operavore as one of “40 Under 40: A new generation of superb opera singers.” She participated in Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ Gerdine Young Artist program in 2020 and 2021, and recently appeared in the company’s digital productions of The Barber of Seville and the PBS holiday special Once Upon a Winter. She has sung with dell’Arte Ensemble, St. Petersburg Opera, Mobile Opera, and in performances at Manhattan School of Music and Eastman School of Music. Angel also runs a popular classical music YouTube channel, AngelOpera, where more than 4 million viewers have learned about the world of opera and vocal production. Angel completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and holds a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music.

Angel Romero, Tenor
Angel Romero is a native of Houston, Texas and recently finished a residency with The Pittsburgh Opera where he performed in Cosi fan tutte and Alcina. Prior to joining the Pittsburgh Opera, he participated in young artist programs at Central City Opera and The Santa Fe Opera. Angel is a 2021 Semifinalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Opera Competition and will make his international debut in Vienna at the Staatsoper in the coming year. He received his undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University and his Master of Music from Yale University School of Music.
Timothy Cheung, Piano
Timothy Cheung is the music director for this year’s Opera Tastings series and has previously worked with OTSL as the music director for our Opera on the Go! education program. He is on the music and administrative staff at Teatro Nuovo.
