“Continuously gripping, without a wasted note or word” (The Wall Street Journal), this powerhouse drama will receive its first new full-scale staging since its 1996 world premiere. Inspired by a compelling true story from the mill towns of 19th century New England, Emmeline’s heart-wrenching saga echoes the age-old Oedipus legend. Joyce El-Khoury debuts in the title role and Meredith Arwady(Dialogues of the Carmelites, Champion) returns as Hannah. George Manahan (Champion) conducts and Opera Theatre Artistic Director James Robinson (“27,” Champion) directs.
