John D. Levy Master Classes

 

Each year, Opera Theatre’s Gerdine Young Artists have the opportunity to work with renowned professionals  in a series of master classes. Opera Theatre has opened two of these master classes to the public—a rare and inspiring opportunity to see some of the country’s most gifted artists at work. Offered at the Sally S. Levy Opera Center in Webster Groves. Admission is $10 or free to donors at the Contributor Level and above.

DENYCE GRAVES
One of the leading lyric tenors of our day,
Lopardo is regularly seen with prestigious
operatic companies and orchestras
around the world. Since his operatic
debut as Tamino in The Magic Flute at
Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 1984, he
has collaborated with the world’s finest
conductors including Claudio Abbado,
Leonard Bernstein, James Conlon, Sir
Andrew Davis, Sir Colin Davis, Charles
Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, James
Levine, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti,
Seiji Ozawa, Sir Georg Solti, and Michael
Tilson Thomas.
Recognized as one of the most exciting
vocal stars in the world today, Denyce
Graves continues to gather unparalleled
acclaim in performances on four
continents. She has become particularly
well-known to operatic audiences for
her portrayals of the title roles in Carmen
and Samson et Dalila. These signature
roles have brought Ms. Graves to the
Metropolitan Opera, Vienna Staatsoper,
Royal Opera, Covent Garden, San
Francisco Opera, among others. She
originates the role of Emelda in Opera
Theatre’s world premiere of Champion.
