John D. Levy Master Classes


Inaugurated by the legendary Eleanor Steber in 1988, these extraordinary master classes offer insights into the art of singing and interpretation,
with performances from several current Gerdine Young Artists. Observe two of these classes offering a rare and inspiring opportunity to see some of the country’s most renowned artists at work. Both programs are held at the Sally S. Levy Opera Center, at 210 Hazel Avenue in Webster Groves.

TICKETS: $12 or free to donors at the Contributor Level and above. Tickets available for purchase at the door the day of the event.

June 20 – Master Class with Stephanie Blythe, mezzo-soprano. One of the most critically acclaimed artists of her generation who has sung with many of the world’s leading opera companies and orchestras, Ms. Blythe makes her first appearance with OTSL this season as Gertrude Stein in the world premiere of “27.”

June 27 – Master Class with Elizabeth Futral, soprano. With appearances across four continents, Elizabeth Futral is one of the leading coloratura sopranos in the world. She joins OTSL this season as Alice B. Toklas in the world premiere of “27.” Ms. Futral made her OTSL debut in 1991 as Naiad in Ariadne on Naxos.
