2016 Gerdine Young Artists Program Auditions to be held in September and October, 2015!
Named for Opera Theatre’s founding board chairman, Leigh Gerdine, and his wife Alice, The Gerdine Young Artist Program seeks to offer emerging young singers invaluable professional experience in carefully selected repertoire. In addition to choral responsibilities in the season, Gerdine Young Artists also sing supporting roles and/or cover leading and featured roles in mainstage productions. Opera Theatre has a strong record of promotion from within and counts among its Gerdine Young Artist alumni such artists as Aubrey Allicock, Paul Appleby, Jamie Barton, Christine Brewer, Alyson Cambridge, Ashley Emerson, Kristine Jepson, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Maria Kanyova, Kate Lindsey, Lester Lynch, Elliot Madore, Amanda Majeski, Sydney Mancasola, Nancy Maultsby, Phyllis Pancella, Keith Phares, Morris Robinson, Alek Shrader, Bradley Smoak, Matthew Worth, and Corinne Winters to name but a few. To that end, in 2015 Opera Theatre created a second level of young artists, The Richard Gaddes Festival Artist Program, to further enhance performing opportunities for returning Gerdine Young Artists.
